Charles “Robert” Church, 73, of Kingsport, TN passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at Holston Manor. He was born in Sacramento, CA during WWII to the late, Charles Quentin and Dorothy Beatrice Church.Robert was a very loving father and grandfather. He took all 3 of his children on a 3-week road trip out West where they all visited several national parks. He later took another special road trip to Alaska with his son, James.A true mountain man, Robert loved deer and turkey hunting, and freshwater fishing with his late father, his son, and his grandsons. He loved boating and skiing with family. Robert was also a very skilled carpenter and known for his beautiful stone structures.Robert attended ETSU, and worked at Mead Corp (aka Domtar) since he was 19 through his retirement.Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelli Church Dilling, her husband Michael of Pearland, TX; daughter Pamela Church Holtzclaw and her husband, Aaron of Kingsport, TN, and his son “James” Charles Robert Church of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren include Austin Michael Dilling of Austin, TX; Zachary Peyton Holtzclaw and Kayley Eryn Hotzclaw of Kingsport, TN; Alexander Robert Dilling of Pearland, TX; and Madison “Maddie” Bailey Church of Kingsport, TN. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, as well as many cousins throughout the United States.The family will receive friends 12:00-1:00 pm Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Todd Potter.A Graveside and Committal Service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park at a later date.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Holston Manor for their compassionate care of our father.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org) in his name.The care of Charles “Robert” Church and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
