Clifford Kennedy, 82, of Castlewood, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and joined his beloved wife, Betty, in the Kingdom of the Lord.Clifford was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy with 20 years of service. After retiring in Orlando, Florida, he later returned to his home in Castlewood. He enjoyed bluegrass music, gardening, and being Papaw to his grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Marshall Kennedy; parents, Ofearl and Thelma Bush Kennedy; siblings, Roger, Linda, Jim and Sue.Those left to cherish Clifford’s memory are his daughters; Debra (Charles) Kane, Karen (Albert) Cockerham, Susan Kowalski and wife Julie Koves; grandchildren, Amy (Kevin) Hart, Erica (Brad) Smith, Katherine Cockerham, Alexander Kane and Adam Kane; brothers, Ode, Glenn, Larry, Garland, Dave, and Wally Kennedy; sister, Mary Wilson; girlfriend, Linda Morelock and her grandson, Michael.The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Robert Cole officiating.Military Graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #265 and Gate City Post #3 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation.
