Darlene “Mary” Hager, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 27, 2018.She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. Ms. Hager worked as a bookkeeper for Pierce Plumbing and Heating, Brooks Plumbing and Watkins Stereo.Her passion was taking care of people and she became a full time caregiver.Ms. Hager’s greatest joys in life were her family, teaching others about Jesus, reading her Bible, singing, listening to gospel songs, playing the piano, church, her friends and potato chips. She was a fervent payer of tithes and a giver to missions.Ms. Hager was a member of North Kingsport Church of God and later attended the Blountville Church of God with her family.She was awarded Resident of the Year at Wexford House in 2014 in recognition of “Her Caring Heart and Compassion for Others.”Ms. Hager was preceded in death by her parents, Wannace and Clara Riner Hager; brother, Kyle Hager; nephew, Michael Vermillion and sister, Lorraine Hager Vermillion.Surviving are her one of a kind brother, Wallace Hager and wife, Vonda; nephew, Travis Hager and wife, Kristy; one and only niece, Wendi Hager Salyer and husband, Jeff and her one and only great niece, KaAnna Salyer.The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Greg Bowman and Pastor Josh Roberts officiating. Eulogies will be given by Kristy Hager, Wendi Hager Salyer and KaAnna Salyer. Music will be provided by Adina Bowman, Buddy Roberts, Paul and Helen Kindle and Wilma Roberts Dean.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 pm Friday, June 1, 2018, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Hobart Bradshaw officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in Darlene’s honor, to the Blountville Church of God, P. O. Box 464, Blountville, TN 37617.The family extends a special thank you to Paul and Helen Kindle, Jerry Quinley, Elijah Woods, Cindy Kennard, Tippy Thomas, Ralph Gamble and Tom and Debra Dixon for their many visits.The care of Darlene Hager and her family has been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
