Edna Marie Smith, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Wexford House. She was born April 18, 1930, in Springfield, PA.Edna was a generous and godly woman who truly had a servant’s heart. She served as a missionary at Bancroft Gospel Ministries for over fifty years. Edna enjoyed reading Christian books and studying her Bible. Miss Smith had previously taught Bible in several public school systems and impacted the lives of many children in our area over the years. She was a graduate of Practical Bible Training School in Binghamton, N.Y.Edna was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby E. Smith.Those left to cherish her memory are her Bancroft Gospel Ministries family; special friends, JoAnn Newland and Phyllis Ford.The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Kenneth Hill officiating.A Graveside and Committal Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Hornbrook Cemetery in Sheshequin Township, PA. I went to Cedar Grove Elementary and I so remember Mrs. Smith coming to our classrooms with her Felt Board attaching the Bible Characters, telling the stories with each one on the stories. She was so sweet and kind. It was always a happy surprise with always a smile on her face. I thank her for her generous time she shared with each of us. Gladys "Susie" Hammonds Webster.
