Hazel R. Epperson

Hazel R. Epperson, age 92, of Mount Carmel, TN, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Holston Manor in Kingsport, TN. Mrs. Epperson was born in Rye Cove, VA, a daughter of the late Charles and Elsie Rhoton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Epperson; and two sisters, Kate Flanary and Zelma Tipton. She was a member of Ross Campground United Methodist Church and she loved her family, to garden and work in flowers. Mrs. Epperson was retired from J.P. Stevens. She is survived by her sister, Irene Lawhorne; two sons, Ron Epperson (wife, Susie); Steve Epperson (wife, Michelle); four grandchildren, Lori Prillhart (husband, Patrick), Charlie Epperson (fiancée, Ayshalynn Perez), Mallory Thurman (husband, Andrew), Tyler Epperson (fiancée, Laura Hite); three great-grandchildren, Taylor Carroll (husband, Dillan), Blakely Thurman, Demi Thurman; and two great-great grandchildren, Phoenix and Baby Athena. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to honor the life of Mrs. Epperson will be conducted on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Ross Campground United Methodist Church, 242 Ross Campground Road, Church Hill, TN, with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Ross Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Holston Manor for the love and care shown to Mrs. Epperson and the family during her time there. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Ross Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
