James “Jim” Agee, 77, of Kingsport, passed into eternity by the grace of God and into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning, November 26, 2017, at his home. He was born November 6, 1940, to the late, Charlie and Virgie Agee of West View Park where he lived his entire life.Jim lived a full life and made many memories for his family and friends to share. He was always busy enjoying everything from his C.B. radio to driving race cars. Jim was Kingsport’s own “Bounty Hunter” car #41 that area fans loved to watch.Mr. Agee enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding go-carts and horses and was an avid NASCAR fan. The one thing he loved to do all his life started as a little boy with his Dad taking him fishing which was his favorite sport. He made many memories with his children, grandchildren and friends at the lake as long as his health permitted. Jim always took time to read his Bible and to pray for his neighbors.He was a graduate of Lynn View High School and a member of West View Missionary Baptist Church where he was active in the AWANA ministry. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company as a Supervisor following thirty-two years of service.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kaye Cassell; grandson, Kevin Shane Cassell and his sister, Nanabelle Yvonne Webb.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Bettie Wagers Agee; his devoted daughter, Lisa Bernard (Bobby); his grandchildren that were precious to him, Charlie Joe Bernard, Taylor Le-Anna Bernard, Mikayla Helton and Kenny Bernard; son-in-law, Jim Cassell sisters, Linda Cimino (Pete), Bobbie Hubbard (John); several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends 5:00-6:45 pm Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at West View Missionary Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mike Stout and Jim Cassell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Carl Seaver.A Graveside and Committal Service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Jim’s honor be made to West View Missionary Baptist Church, AWANA Ministry, 1037 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37660.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mountain States Hospice, especially Sara for their compassionate care of our husband and dad during his final days.The care of James “Jim” Agee and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
