Jerry Coley Hurt, 74, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a valiant battle with cancer. She was born February 6, 1944, in Gate City, VA to the late William Coley and Myranell Osborne Coley Nolan.Jerry was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who always put others first. She enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers and going to estate and garage sales. Christmas was her favorite season of the year.She was First Lady Tennessee District Optimist International 1994-95, Double Distinguished Lt. Governor, Moderator of Bethany E.P.C. Women and an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, E.P.C.Jerry retired as a Fraud Investigator with Citi Bank following twenty-five years of service.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-three years, John J. Hurt; sons, Justin Wolfmoon, Jon Hurt and wife, Cari; grandchildren, Zen, Crescent, Keegan, Violet, Hallee, Haydon and Hughston; sisters, Sylvia Allen, Barbara Bailey and Billie Wisecarver.The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 11:00 am-12:45 pm at Bethany Presbyterian Church, E.P.C., 5825 Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport, TN 37663. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Chuck Echols officiating.The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of NHC, especially Tammy and the doctors and nurses at Holston Valley Medical Center, Cancer Unit, Wilcox Hall.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Jerry’s honor be made to Meals on Wheels of SFRS, P.O. Such a lovely lady, adored by many!!!! Heaven gained another angel. My deepest condolences to her family.
Our Love and deepest sympathy are with each one. We have so many wonderful memories of Jerry that we will treasure always. She was a kind loving person to everyone. She has a special place in God's flower garden.
