Joan Kipfinger Johnson,85, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.Joan was born on August 30, 1932, in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Herman and Nellie Alley Kipfinger.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was loved by all those who knew her. Joan was a member of Trinity Church of the Brethren, and she had been employed by Hills Department Store with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading, and spending time with her beloved family.Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie B. Johnson; brother, Donnie Kipfinger; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Boydston.Those left to cherish Joan’s memory are her daughter; Kathi Jo Pickel and fiancé, Tim Bishop; sons, Wayne (Letha) Johnson, Blaine (Donna) Johnson, Randy (Debby) Johnson and Charlie B. “Chuck” Johnson, Jr.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Jackie and Larry; sisters, Kelly, Patricia, and Helen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm in the chapel with Brother Justin Meade officiating.The Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Joan’s caregivers, Letha Johnson, April Johnson, Kathi Pickel and Jake Johnson.The care of Joan Kipfinger Johnson and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.Read Obituary
