"Mary" Ruth English

“Mary” Ruth English, 102, died peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living on January 29, 2018.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Evans and Margie Slemp Clarkston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Clarkston; sisters, Lucille Blankenship, Edna Clarkston, Olga Collier and Alma Hobbs.She married the late, Warren English on June 25, 1942, in the chapel of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Johnson City, TN. Warren English died in 1984.Ruth was a Sullivan County school teacher for forty-three years and an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Kingsport, TN.She is survived by several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018, in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral Home.The Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, February 2, 2018, at St. Dominic Catholic Church.A Graveside and Committal Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Ruth's honor be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 John B.
