Maurice F. Covey

Maurice Covey, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1934, in Shreveport, LA to the late Jesse and Lela Jane Covey.Maurice was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a devout Christian and a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church.Mr. Covey was a retired business owner. His hobbies included riding his bicycle on the Green Belt, exercising at the gym and caring for his humming birds. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his grandsons.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Wheat Covey; sister, Deanna Madewell and brother, Hasten Covey.Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Tony Covey; grandsons, Skylar Covey and Nicholas Key; sisters, Vivian Harrod and Delight Hatton; brother, Thurman Covey and wife, Carol.The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 pm Monday, May 21, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gene Fletcher officiating.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
