Paul Q. Lester

Paul Q. Lester, 79, of Jonesville, VA, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a long illness.He was born in Buchanan Co., VA, he was a former resident of Abingdon, VA and Bristol, VA and had lived in Jonesville for the past 28 years.Mr. Lester retired from Clinchfield Coal Mining Co. as a coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #7950 where he was formerly Vice President. He enjoyed gardening, reading and loved his cat Sweet Pea. Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his son Greg Lester; parents, Lacey and Icey Miller Lester; sisters, Ruth Ann Dales and Jean Lowe; brothers, Howard Lester, Edd Lester, Thurman Lester, Leroy Lester and Virgil “Bub” Lester. Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Polly A. Lester; daughter, Kimberly Taylor and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Erica and Derrek; a great grandson; step son, John Long and wife, Sherri; step grandchildren, Whitney and Joshua; brothers, James Lester and wife, Susie and Ralph Lester and wife, Linda and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his neighbors for their care, compassion and love.The care of Paul Lester and his family has been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.Read Obituary
