Robert Linville Carpenter

Robert Linville Carpenter, 83, of Kingsport, entered into rest on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Erwin Healthcare Center. Robert was born on March 3, 1934 to the late Harrison and Bertha Carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping at the beach. Robert was self-employed as a home contractor. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Betty Head Carpenter; brothers, Ervin, John, and James; sisters, Ruth Carpenter and Betty McGaha.Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters; Trixie Kern (Thomas), and Margaret Riley (Carl), Dorothy Guy, and Jean Bennett; special niece, Joy Christian, along with several other nieces and nephews; special friends, Frank Carr and Donnie Rose also survive.The family will receive friends 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services. A Celebration Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel with Robert Cole officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Section F of Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.The family extends a special thank you to the staffs of Preston Place II, New Leaf Senior Care at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, and Erwin Healthcare for their compassion and care of Robert.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
