Allena Bright, age 74, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2018.She was born in Franklin, Tennessee on June 7, 1944, daughter of the late Allen and Libby West. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Jackson. Allena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where she served as Elder, taught preschool, and was a member of Martha Circle. Allena retired from Equitable Resources. She served as President for Appalachian Desk and Derrick Association for many years.Left to cherish her memory are Dewey Bright, her loving husband of 52 years; daughters, Daphne Bright Murray (Chad) of Bristol, VA, and Jo Anne Bright-Church (Gary) of Winter Garden, FL. Her grandsons; Adam Murray, Andrew Murray (Bailey), and Josh Murray. Great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Leighton Murray; sister, Jane Nash of Franklin, TN and brother, Mack West of Columbia, TN; many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friends of the family, Howard Gregg, Chad and Marcia McMurray. The Bright family would like to thank Asbury Place, Smoky Mountain Hospice, Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall, and Dr. Kim Roller for the excellent care provided to Allena. Special thanks to the Care Shepherds of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church (213 Colonial Heights Rd. Kingsport, TN) after an earlier internment service for the family at the church Columbarium, Reverend Shane Smith, officiant. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer’s Association, Tennessee Chapter, P.O.
