Arthur “Art” Hyden Ballis, 76, of Kingsport passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Holston Valley Medical Center.Art was born on September 27, 1944, in Kingsport, TN. Raised by Lucille and Marion Foster, upon the passing of his father Theodore Ballis.He lived most of his childhood in Germany, but returned to the US for a short period of time, where he graduated Ayer High School in Ayer, MA. Art earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics/Aviation Safety Management at Embry-Riddle and graduated class of 1998. Shortly after graduating, Art returned to Germany where he served as Chief Warrant Officer Level 4. He taught helicopter aviation as an instructor pilot. He was proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He was the most honorable, trustworthy, kind and loving man. He was the greatest father to his children and a wonderful and loving husband. Due to his guidance, all of his children are extremely successful. Art loved animals, helicopters and continued to read up on them even after retiring, he made a point to keep up with all world events, he loved college football, especially Alabama, and was an avid knife collector. He was preceded in death by mother, Lucille Hyden Foster; father, Theodore Ballis; and his step-father, Marion Foster.Those left to cherish Art’s memory are his loving wife, Christine Brooks Ballis; step-daughters, Cyndi McDaniels, Brianna Myers, Jamie Grimes, Sarah Moran; step-sons, Steve McDaniel, Neil McDaniel; grandson, Colson Myers; and four step-grandchildren.
