Ben Douglas Cavitt, Sr., 70, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 20, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 20, 1951, in Chattanooga, TN to the late Robert and Louise Bearfield Cavitt. Ben loved his family and his country. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, guns, fishing, listening to music and making people laugh. He was a truck driver and retired following fifty-one years of service. Ben was a member of Way of Life Baptist Church and the N.R.A. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his son, Ben Douglas Cavitt, Jr.; grandson, Landon Noblitt; brothers, Harold Cavitt and Kenneth Cavitt; aunt, Faye; sister-in-law, Brenda Gilmore; best friend, Ronnie Norton. Those left to cherish Ben’s memory are his wife, Jan Cavitt; children, Melissa Myers (Ray), Douglas Cavitt (Jennifer), Tabitha Cavitt, Anthony Cavitt (Brianna), Tracy Cavitt (Josh Doran), Stacy Cavitt (Cody Norton) and Cameron Cavitt; grandchildren, Heather Baker, Garrett Noblitt, Alexis Williams, Jackson Myers, Colton Cavitt, Riley Mooneyham, Drew Cavitt, Bella Cavitt, Rosie Cavitt and Raegan Mooneyham; great-grandchildren, Lyric Baker and Lucy Baker; brother, Gene Cavitt (Debbie); sister, Brenda Cavitt; several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Way of Life Baptist Church or any time at the home. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Johnny Gibson and Dr. David Merrill officiating. The Graveside Service will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Anthony Cavitt, Douglas Oliver Cavitt, Josh Doran, Cody Norton, Ray Myers and Garrett Noblitt. Those attending the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. The family extends their sincere appreciation to Avalon Hospice, nurse, Vera Brandon, Anissa Ball, Pam Hughes, Dr. David Merrill and staff.
