Betty Jean Isley

Betty Jean Isley, 88, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Preston Place Suites. She was born April 18, 1931, in Derby, VA to the late Ronald and Nell Flanary. Betty spent most of her life in Kingsport but lived in Oak Ridge, TN for several years. She was a fun loving lady who possessed an amazing creative spirit. She was always involved in some type of project. Betty enjoyed antiquing, playing the piano, refinishing furniture and cutting gem stones. She was a graduate of Fassifern School in Hendersonville, NC and following graduation from U-T, Knoxville she worked at Eastman Chemical Company in the Research Department and later sold real estate in Kingsport.Betty was a lady of faith, a student of the Scriptures and long-time member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of The Virginia Club.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Don Isley; aunt, Claudia Bright.Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Isley (Hope Fields Isley); daughter, Donna Isley Mason; former son-in-law, George Mason; grandson, Griffin Mason; uncle, Hagan Bright; cousin, Richard Bright.A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 5:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. Jack Weikel will officiate.
