Betty Jane Fuller Moore passed away on August 31 2018. Betty was born on May 19, 1927, in Boncar, West Virginia. She came to Kingsport in the mid 1930’s and has been a Kingsportian ever since.Betty was a graduate of Sullivan High School. After graduation she went to work at Kingsport Press where she met Mack Moore, her future husband, whom she shared her life with for 60 years until his death in 2010. Their marriage was a model of love, devotion, partnership and fun.Betty was a strong, determined lady who was involved in community and service roles for many years. She was an active member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was a past President of the Kingsport City Schools PTA Council and past President of Andrew Jackson Elementary School PTA. Betty was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and was instrumental in establishing a program which provided volunteer workers in the Kingsport City School clinics for many years. She was also a gifted artist who not only painted but was a talented woodworker as well. She created beautiful pieces that are treasured today by family and friends across the country.In addition to Mack, Betty is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betsy Cooper, son-in-law Fred Cooper and their children Annie Andrews and her husband Ben Andrews; Abbie Kilgore and her husband Clayton Kilgore; her great grandchildren Cooper Jane Andrews, Carter Mack Andrews, and Ford James Kilgore (arriving December 2018); Betty’s son, Mack Moore, daughter-in-law Carolyn McNeil Moore and their children Tyler Moore and his wife Lynn, Tucker Moore, and Hannah Moore; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other extended family and friends.A private family Entombment Service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Moore, Tucker Moore, Ben Andrews, Clayton Kilgore, David Lane, Justin Lane, Rick Jennings, Tim Taylor, Graham Clark, Rodney Burton, and Danny Karst.The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 4, 2018, from 5:00-6:30 PM in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:30 PM with Dr. Randy Frye and Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. A eulogy will be given by Fred Cooper. Music will be under the direction of Carla Karst. Please join in celebrating the life of this incredible little lady.Betty lived a life of humility, grace, love for family, and a passion for children and those less fortunate.
