Betty Sue Vermillion, 81, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 6, 2023.She was born August 23, 1941, in Sullivan County, TN to the late Ed and Elvia Cox Rowland.Betty was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt whose final wish was to meet all her family and friends in heaven.She enjoyed attending church, sewing, gardening, watching Western movies and soap operas.Betty retired as a Supervisor at the Kingsport Press following thirty-three years of service.She was a faithful member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and assisted in V.B.S.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vermillion; grandson, Jordan Necessary; brothers, Roy Rowland, Tommy Rowland and John Rowland.Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her son, Dusty Necessary and daughter-in-law, Kendra Bailey; special grandson, Devon Rowland; grandson, Asher Necessary; brother, Eddie Rowland and wife, Elsie; numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Monday, January 16, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am at Mill Creek Baptist Church, 449 Church Road, Fall Branch, TN 37656.A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Calvin McCray officiating.Burial will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. My prayers and thoughts with the entire family during this time of loss. She was always a joy to be around. I grew up in the community with her family and enjoyed a lot of good times together. She never met a stranger or made to you feel that way. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten by those who knew her and loved her.
Sue was always a faithful member of the choir at Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church where I served as Choir Leader. I always enjoyed Miss Sue when she would get happy and start praising the Lord.
I couldn't tell the number of memories I have with Aunt Sue. I couldn't count the number of meals she feed me, the summers when I was a kid staying a week or two with her and uncle Jack, the fishing trips, the swimming pool, cutting up deer meat,,,,,basically a lifetime of memories!!! She was good to my uncle Jack, was good to me, (except when I ran over her peach tree with the mower, then she fussed at me a little, LOL)!!! Most especially she was and truly is now a child of God, and Aunt Sue I love you and I'll see ya when I cross over!!
