Betty Hiler Ward

Betty Hiler Ward, 87, of Kingsport, went to her heavenly home Monday, March 25, 2019, at her residence. She was born June 23, 1931, in Abingdon, VA to the late Preston H. Hiler and Fedelia Tanner Hiler.She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Ward; sisters, Carol Sue Joines and Mildred “Dot” Hunt.Betty was raised and lived most of her life in Chilhowie, VA and later she moved to Abingdon where she lived until moving to Kingsport in 1996, to live with her daughter.She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Abingdon, VA and attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church while in Kingsport.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Dora L. and Alan Hill; grandson, Scott Hill all of Kingsport; sister, Louise Tilson, Chilhowie, VA; nine nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 1:00-2:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Pastor Leonard Tenney and Dr. Greg Burton officiating. Music will be under the direction of Doug Pendergrass.Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family would like to thank the staff of Avalon Hospice, especially Kiersten and Raven for all their care and kindness.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Betty's honor be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O.
