Billy David Lane, 73, of Weber City, VA, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Scott Co., VA and had lived in Weber City most of his life. Mr. Lane Served in the U. S. Navy and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. He retired from Eastman Chemical Co. after 13 years of service. Mr. Lane was a member of the Log House Church, Weber City, VA, the Disabled Veterans of America and the Virginia and Tennessee National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, football, politics and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Mary Jones Lane; infant sister and brothers, Kelly Lane and Ralph Lane. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Ann Smith Lane; daughter, Angela Curtis Ray (William); granddaughters, Amanda Hobby (Mitch), Melody Ray (Adam Nesmith) and Breanda Ray; grandsons, Steven Ray (Maggie) and Caleb Ray; great grandchildren, Isaiah Powell, Amethyst Powell, Kindra Hobby, Layla Price, Raylynn Powell, Avelina Ray and Waylon Nesmith; expecting great granddaughter, Jolene; sister, Annie; brothers, George Lane, Emory Lane, Roy Lane and A.J. Lane; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2020 under the portico at the main entrance of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services. Military Rites will follow at 4:00 pm by the American Legion Post #3 and Post #265. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with his brothers George Lane and A.J. Lane speaking. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or Disabled American Veterans at https://www.dav.org/ The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the home healthcare staff, especially Shelia.
