Carmoleta Jane Dunn Lane, born March 27, 1942, went joyfully to be with her Jesus and many loved ones that she had longed to see on February 17, 2022, after several years of declining health. Although she will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind, she is happy to be home at last with her beloved parents, J.W. and Edith Hawkins Dunn; her maternal grandparents, William “Bill” and Nellie Mowdy Hawkins; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Anna Hicks Dunn; a very special god niece, Yvette Killen; beloved sister and brother in law, Frances and W.G. Morgan; very special adopted nephew, Jeremy Evans; a host of other loved ones and special friends she had met through the years. Carmoleta is also rejoicing to be with her eight babies at last. Due to health reasons, she was never able to carry her babies to full term, but she never wavered in her belief that all of her eight babies, including one set of twins, were carried long enough to have a soul and she would be able to see these babies in Heaven. Carm’s family is happy knowing she is with them at last.Carm or Jane as she was affectionately called by her family, leaves behind, to grieve her passing, her husband, Bobby Lane; a special sister and brother- in- law, Teresa and James Killen and a loving brother and sister- in- law, Bobby and Phyllis Dunn. She also leave behind a host of nieces; nephews; great- nieces; great- nephews; great-great nieces; great-great nephews; one very special niece, Suzette Killen; special great-great niece, Madison Bowerman and special great-great nephew, Dakoda Bowerman. The Lord doubly blessed Carm with talent. She played piano, organ and almost any instrument either by ear or reading music and had a beautiful voice as well. She had an offer to play with Tanya Tucker, but she chose instead to use her talents to serve the Lord and uplift His name. She started playing the piano at a very early age when she couldn’t even reach the pedals. Along with her late sister, Frances and two special cousins, Joyce and Patsy Horne, they made up the Little Sunset Quartet. Carm played and sang with several quartets through the years, including the Happy Grad Quartet, which consisted of her sister Teresa Killen, Mom, Edith Dunn, dad, J.W. Dunn, the late George Daugherty, Danny Hutchins and the late David Hutchins. Carm’s last group before her health started to decline, was Living Faith Trio.At Carm’s request, there will be no visitation, but those wishing may visit the home or at a sister’s Teresa Killen, 3528 Floraland Dr., KingsportA Graveside Service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Garden of the Sermon on the Mount with Rev. Dewey Killen officiating. At her request, she also asked that her brother in law, James Killen take part in her final farewell to this ole world.Carm believed you gave people their flowers while they were alive to “smell the flowers and enjoy the beauty of them.” So instead of sending flowers, she requested that those wishing, to make a donation to St. Jude Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org in her memory. From your “baby sissy,’ I love you dearly and even though you don’t need them now, bless the child and ten Hail Mary’s.”The care of Carmoleta Jane Dunn Lane and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.

We love Aunt Carm. Fondest memory is listening to her sing and play her music. Beautiful! She did both at my wedding. Love you Donna

My heart is sad. Every one in this family means so much to me, and Carm inspired me to play the piano. Rest in peace and thank you all in this family for knowing what love truly is because they love everybody.

Dear Bob, Bobby, Teresa and family, I am so sorry to hear about Carm passing. I know the last several months have been hard for the family. Losing our loved ones is hard but God knew what He was doing, He doesn't make mistakes. The suffering was more than He wanted Carm and Frances to go through. I loved them very much.
Before I moved back to South Carolina I had such a nice surprise when Bob and Carm went out for a drive and ended up coming to visit me in Greeneville. I'll never forget that nice visit we had. We got to talk several hours.
I can't make it up for the funeral but know that I love you all and will be praying that God will provide the peace and comfort you will need during this difficult time.
Love, your cousin,
Barbara Hicks Hughes
