Charles “Charlie” Chapman Dingus, 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 16, 2020, after a three week battle with coronavirus. Charles was born on December 29, 1929, in Jenkins, KY. He retired from the Mead Pulp and Paper Company and retired the second time from Warriors Path State Park at the age of 88. He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was happily married to his wife, Jo Ann Dye Dingus for 51 years at the time of his death. Charlie loved his family, friends and his Lord fiercely. He never looked for praises and he was never one to boast. He quietly worked for the ones he loved the most. His dreams were seldom spoken and his wants were very few. More often than not, his worries went unspoken. A firm foundation through the storms of life, he was a sturdy hand to hold onto in times of stress and strife. He was a strong man to turn to when times were good or bad. One of our greatest blessings was to call this man, our Granddad and Daddy.Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; Simmie Dingus and Amanda Grace Morefield Dingus; three brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his wife, Jo Ann Dingus; daughters, Gail Dingus, Patti Vanzant (Sam); granddaughters, Dawneen Willis; Charli France (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Easton France, Sawyer France, Bellarose Willis; brother, Irvin Dingus (Louise); numerous family and friends. As per his and his family’s wishes there will be no services. “The day which we fear as our last, is but the birthday of eternity….until we meet again.”“Keep singing with the angels Daddy, we will never forget you.” Gail and PattiTo leave an online condolence for the family please visit www.oakhillfh.comThe care of Charles “Charlie” Chapman Dingus and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
