Charlie L. Callahan, 97, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, April 06, 2019, at Wexford House after a short illness.He was born Mitchel County, NC and lived most of his life in Kingsport, TN. Mr. Callahan served in the U.S Army during WWII. He worked at Oak Ridge on the Manhattan Project and retired from AmeriGas Propane Gas Company Mr. Callahan was a member Cub Creek Baptist Church.Enjoyed reading, studying history, gardening and loved spending time with his family.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Cooper Callahan; parents, Stokes and Ida Callahan; sisters, Lily Bailey, Hattie Thomas, Esther Boone and Corinne Canipe; brothers, Jack Calihan, Mack Callahan, Woodrow Callahan and Walter Callahan.Surviving are his son, Gary Callahan and wife Donna; grandchildren, April Oaks and husband Nick and Jennifer Noel and husband, Landon; great-grandchildren, Eli Oaks, Abigail Oaks and Evan Noel; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J.
