Cheryl Allayne Baker Gibson moved to Heaven on Sunday morning November 24, 2019. Cheryl was surrounded by her loved ones as her brother, Jim and her grandson in love, Andrew were holding hands with her as she was embraced by the One who loves her the most. Cheryl, this little firecracker, was placed in the arms of her loving parents, Pete and Louise Baker on July 4, 1947, in Hamilton, Ohio. Family was very important to Cheryl and she loved living life with her parents along with her younger brother, Jim and her baby sister, Karen. In April of 1973, Cheryl (from CA) met the love of her life Dan Gibson (from TN) on a trip to the Holy Land. Four months later on August 25, 1973, they were married and spent the next thirty-three years loving each other. Together they began the Gibson Family Daycare. Their love expanded with each new child and each new family that came into their home. After 35 years Cheryl retired from the job but not from loving children. Her love and generosity for church, friends, and family continued through many years after her retirement. Cheryl was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher, GA Leader, and nursery worker for over forty years. The Shoebox Ministry, School Supply Ministry, Village Fest, Circle and Senior’s groups and delivering Meals and Wheels were Cheryl’s way of loving on her church family and community. God blessed us with her presence in our lives. Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Louise Baker; husband, Dan Gibson; and her sister, Karen Ayers. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Agnes Baker; brother-in law, Pat Ayers; nieces, Brianne Baker and Rachel Graze; nephew, Jon Ayers; daughter and son in love, Becky and Buzzy Mann; three grandchildren in love, Austin, Adam, and her “Baby” Andrew Mann. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:45 am, Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1238 Pine Street, Kingsport, TN.
