Dennis Ray Kinzer When it’s all been said and done There is just one thing that matters Did I do my best to live for truth Did I live my life for You Lord, I lived my life for You. Dennis Ray Kinzer,70, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 31, 2022, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren who loved him dearly. Dennis was born in Independence, VA but moved to King, NC at an early age. As a teenager, he felt called to the ministry. Dennis was a graduate of Johnson Bible College, and he received his MA degree in Counseling Psychology from WVU. He served churches for over 50 years in VA, KY and WV, and he was a member of the Indian Springs Christian Church in Kingsport, TN, at the time of his death. Dennis worked in the mental health field for 25 years beginning and ending at FMRS Health Systems, Inc., in Beckley, WV, and was also the Director of the Pender Center in Burgaw, Pender County, NC., for Southeastern Mental Health for seven years. He was an adjunct professor at Beckley College, WV, and also Mount Olive College, Wilmington Campus, Wilmington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Frances Young Kinzer; two brothers, Mickey and Larry; sister, Patsy; and son-in-law, Randy Redden. Those left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his wife of over 50 years, Hilda Sponaugle Kinzer; children, Anita Redden; David (Tara), Jimmy (Mandy); and Susan Hawkins (Lee); eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; sister, Wilma Fagg (Terry); brothers, Obie (Tonia), Rickey and Robbie; sister-in-law, Pam Kinzer; nieces, nephews and a host of friends, especially his fellow minister friend, Keith Rogers. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to nurses and staff at Avalon Hospice. We will never forget your care and kindness to our family. A Celebration Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at The Mount Hope Christian Church, 801 Main St., Mount Hope, WV 25880. The care of Dennis Ray Kinzer and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
