Diana Kay Gilliam, 63, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 2nd, following a brief illness.Diana was a friend and inspiration to everyone she met. Her laughter and quick wit was a source of joy, especially to her family. Diana was a member of the Sunbeams Sunday School Class at New Beginnings Fellowship Church. Diana loved riding in the church van every Sunday and going to church there with her friends. Diana loved Jesus and could sing Amazing Grace in such a way that it would melt your heart. Next to Jesus, she loved Elvis, and of course Luke and Bo Duke from “The Dukes of Hazard”. If Diana knew you, then she also knew the date of your birth. Year after year after year, friends and family would get a phone call, followed by Diana singing Happy Birthday to them. It was one of many things we all treasured about Diana. God blessed us all by giving us Diana to love, and we were blessed even more to be loved by Diana.Diana Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruby Gilliam, and a brother, Timothy Gilliam. Left to grieve her loss are her beloved brother and sister-in law, Danny and Carolyn Gilliam, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:15 Saturday, October 5th 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Diana’s life will follow at 1:30 pm, with Dr. Leland H. Salyer officiating. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Holston Manor. The care of Diana Kay Gilliam and her family has been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
