Earl Hubert “Boo” Byington, 73, of Surgoinsville, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at Holston Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Scott Co., VA; was a former resident of Richmond, VA and had lived in Surgoinsville for the past nine years. Mr. Byington retired from the State of Virginia, Henrico Co., as a Foreman over Grounds and Maintenance after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, sitting on his porch and loved being outdoors. Mr. Byington was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alpha Nelms Byington; sisters, Nannie Thomas, Sue Mason and Liza Hale and brothers Verlie Byington and Grady Byington. Surviving are his daughter, Lynette Byington; sisters, Jean Ketron and husband, Joe and Mary Phillips and husband, Sherrill; brother, David Byington; special nephew and caregiver, Wade Ketron and wife, Sherry and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering with family and friends will be held at a later date. The care of Earl Hubert “Boo” Byington and his family has been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
