Earl J. Jones

Earl J. Jones, 92, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1925, in Appalachia, VA to the late, Carl and Mary Witt Jones.Earl was a unique man and a picture of love and dedication to his family. He was a “jack of all trades” and a perfectionist in all endeavors. Earl enjoyed collecting coins and old watches. His family brought him the greatest joy in life especially, his wife and grandchildren.Mr. Jones retired from the Mead Corporation as a Supervisor following thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church and Bloomingdale Ruritan Club. Earl was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WW II and the Korean War.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Parsons Jones.Left to cherish his memory are his son, Richard Jones (Darlene); grandchildren, Susan Wilson (Kevin), Christina Scarce (Chip), April Jones and Andrew Jones; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Jones.The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday, December 21, 2017, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Mike Bays officiating.A Graveside and Committal Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Sermon on The Mount. Full military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Hammond Post #3/#265.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Earl’s honor be made to Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church, 2313 Portland Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37660 or the Bloomingdale Ruritan Club, 3232 Van Horn Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.The care of Earl J.
