Elizabeth Applegate

Elizabeth Betty Applegate, 63, of Jonesborough, TN passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born October 14, 1956, in Lynch, KY to the late Ernest and Mary Statzer Jones.Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed cooking, baking and drinking sweet tea. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.Betty was a graduate of Pikeville University in Kentucky where she earned a B.S. Degree in Psychology. She was employed for several years as a social worker with the Pike County Dept. of Social Services.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Rose Allen; uncle, Jim Statzer.Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Applegate; daughters, Angela Templeton (Thad), Elizabeth Jones (Kenneth); grandchildren, Tyler Lucas (Charity), Kealan Lucas, Nick Whitaker, Kaleigh Jones, Hunter Whitaker, Jackson McCall and Eva Templeton; special great-grandchild, Landon Lucas; sister, Phyllis Jones Pahel; brothers, Charles Jones (Elaine) and Donnie Jones (Carolyn); host of nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 10:00-11:00 am in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:00 am with Mitch Whisnant officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at 12:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
