Elzie Ritchie

Elzie Jane Ritchie, 81, of Rogersville, TN went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 30, 1938, in Knott County, KY to the late Hygie and Alma Shepherd Ritchie.Elzie was an old-fashioned, outspoken, loving lady who always enjoyed a friendly debate and she always won. She enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family.Elzie was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, Surgoinsville, TN where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Ritchie; sister, Evelena Maggard; brother, William Ritchie; grandson, Tyler Ritchie.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Elmer Ritchie; daughter, Loretta Monroe (Todd); step-sons, Marty Ritchie (Stacie), Greg Ritchie, Jeff Ritchie, Tony Ritchie; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel Noble (Foster) and Derma Hayes (Roger); brothers, Floyd Ritchie and Watson Ritchie (Connie); several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10, 2019, from 12:00-1:45 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jesse Hartgrove and Pastor Ed Maynard officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.
