Evelyn Linde Hanes

Evelyn Linde Hanes, 93, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at her residence. She was born December 17, 1924, to the late, Albert A. and Mary F. Prescott Linde.She was born in Geneva, Nebraska and had lived in Kingsport most of her adult life.Mrs. Hanes was a Volunteer at Girl’s Inc., where she was awarded the 2008 Adult Program Volunteer Award for outstanding volunteer services. She volunteered teaching reading to adults and also volunteered at Lighthouse Independent Living, Inc.She enjoyed keeping up with political events, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross word puzzles and reading. Mrs. Hanes was a wonderful mom, she was independent and a very private person. She was baptized in the summer of 2016. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William C. Hanes and other family members.Those left to cherish her memory are her son, R. Steven Hanes (Susan); daughters, Linde S. Hanes and Tammy Hanes Rush; special nephew, Dave S. Linde (Sharon); four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 am Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.A Funeral Service will follow at 11 am in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of the Good Shepherd.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Girls Incorporated of Kingsport, P.O.
