Frances P. Lane, 94, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2018. She was born April 17, 1924 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to the late James P. and Nettie Baker Palmer.Frances was a founding owner of Warpath Lanes. She was an avid bowler and coach. Frances worked with youth bowlers for over 30 years. She was like a second mom to many of the kids who bowled at Warpath from the 60’s through the 80’s. She served on the local and state youth board of directors. Three of the first four bowlers inducted in to the Men’s Tennessee State Bowling Hall of Fame, based on performance, were coached in their youth by Frances. Mrs. Lane was a member of the Women’s Tennessee State Bowling Hall of Fame. She was most proud of the fact she was part of the first Mother-Son inductees in the Tennessee State Bowling Hall of Fame.She was a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She will always be remembered as a kind and caring lady who was sharp minded until the end. She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Lane; sister, Nancy Self and brother, Wesley Palmer.Survivors include her son, Dennis A. Lane (wife Beverley); grandson, Mark A. Lane (wife Merritt); granddaughter, Tanja Smith; great-granddaughter, Bailee Lane, and beloved niece, Gigi Epps; step grandson, Kevin Kristin Marshall; step great grandchildren, Hayden, Maddie and Lillie and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 pm with Mr. Vernon Smith and Tony Bleckley officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am Friday, August 31, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Gethsemane. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Berry, Steve Martin, David Good, David Lambert, Mike Collier, Colin Smith, Kenny Waters and James Postell. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lane Memorial Youth Bowling Foundation, 2449 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport, TN 37664.The family would express a sincere thank you to special friends, Janet Williams and Cosby Bostrum and the staff of Brookdale.
