Pastor Garland Tipton, 69, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at his residence. He was born May 6, 1950, in Kingsport, to the late Charlie and Virgie Mae Peters Tipton.Garland was a faithful husband and a godly, loving father, grandfather and brother. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.Pastor Tipton’s greatest joy in life came by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he faithfully pastored Bethel Apostolic Church in Kingsport for thirty-one years.His favorite past-times included hunting and fishing.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jewell Osborne.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-nine years, Donna Tipton; daughters, Hope Wilson (Jesse) and Lanita Joy Evans; grandchildren, Lakita Osborn, Seth Wilson and Latara Evans; sisters, Loraine Hammonds, Joyce Grove and Thelma Jones; brothers, Carl Tipton, Coy Tipton, Paul Tipton, Harold Tipton and Ed Tipton; numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Friday, October 11, 2019, from 5:00-6:45 pm at Bethel Apostolic Church, Kingsport, TN. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Tipton, Bishop Don Tipton, Rev. Rick Collins and Rev. Lynn Keys officiating. Music will be provided by Seth Wilson, Rick Osborne and Mary Ann Williams.A Graveside Service will be conducted Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 10:00 am at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. We so much loved Bro. Tipton. We will long remember this great man of God who was so kind, full of wisdom, loved the Word of God, care and love for all of us, and for the Organization. We will miss him so much; Sis. Tipton you are a jewel and we love you. To the family and the church family, the days ahead are going to be very hard, but your trust in God and praying will help pull you thru the days of grief. Grief is a hard word to explain until a person goes thru it---but a consulation is that God's grace is sufficient. Bro. Tipton suffered suffered so much, now he is free of pain and care. Sis. Tipton, family, and church family you are in our thoughts and prayers.
