Glen Bass, 76, of Kingsport went to be with his Lord peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with his loving wife by his side.Glen was a member of Southview Community Church where he served in various roles as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader. He retired from Eastman as a Chemical Engineer with over 30 years of service. Glen was a devoted family man attending the grandchildren’s various activities. He enjoyed playing golf, officiating women’s basketball, and devoted much of his time helping others and volunteering with Meals on Wheels and Gideons.Preceding Glen in death are his parents, Dewey and Ethel Hopson Bass; sister, Cindy Cox; brothers, Dewey Bass, Jr. and James Bass; special brother-in-law, Sam Wilson; and a niece and nephew.Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 53 years, Darla Bass; daughters, Ondrea Beverly (Baxter) of Appalachia, VA and Angie McCreight (Kelly) of Franklin,TN; grandchildren, Andrew Beverly (Stella), Sean McCreight, Emily McCreight, Noah Beverly, Morgan Beverly (Rachel) and Trish Meade (Gary), great-grandchildren, Annamae Marie Beverly, Dawson Beverly, and Nick and Haley Meade; sister, Evelyn Hagen; sisters-in-law, Karen Vaughn (Dwight) and Diann Wilson; and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Music will be provided by John Powers.A Private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday in Oak Hill Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Glen’s memory to Southview Community Church, 1235 Moreland Dr., Kingsport, TN 37660, or Meals on Wheels, PO Box 3346, Kingsport, TN 37664.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Holston Valley Medical Center and NHC Healthcare of Kingsport for their kindness and compassion.
