Glenda Raye Childers, 74, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Indian Path Medical Center. She was born November 5, 1943, in Kingsport, to the late, Raymond and Aileen Oliver Childers.She was a committed Christian and a God given blessing to her family especially, her nieces and nephews. She was a devoted care-giver to her mother who passed away April 8, 2017.Her passions included; genealogy, recipe books, family photos and reading. She was a graduate of Lynn View High School. Glenda was a member of Noeton Primitive Baptist Church, Bean Station, TN.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Childers Slaughter.Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, William M. Childers (Johanna); nieces, Kathryn Slaughter Burton (Rodney), Rebecca Slaughter Ayers (Warren), Melissa Slaughter Burton (Johnny), Sarah Slaughter McConnell (Jon) and Fara Childers; nephews, Lowell David Slaughter (Jodi), Joshua Childers (Paula); twenty great nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews; special cousin, Paul Oliver; numerous other cousins and family members and her church family at Noeton Primitive Baptist Church.The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017, from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, December 29, 2017, at Noeton Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bean Station, TN with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Great nephews will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Glenda’s honor be made to Noeton Primitive Baptist Church, Newman Hollow Road, Bean Station, TN 37708.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Indian Path Medical Center, Elaine Minton, Pinkie Shaffer and Dr. Kelly McQueen for their compassionate care of Glenda during her final days.The care of Glenda Raye Childers and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
