Gwendolyn Gay Risner, 59, of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2021.II Corinthians 5:6-8 (KJV) 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight: 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.Gwen was born in Kingsport on September 12, 1961, to Florence Hammons and the late Billy J. “Don” Williams. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord. Gwen attended Orebank Chapel Central Baptist Church for the past 25 years. After college she worked as a respiratory therapist at Indian Path Hospital, then later as a medical transcriptionist in a medical office. Gwen loved her family, grandchildren and her fur baby, Cooper.Those left to cherish Gwen’s memory are her loving husband of 17 years, Dewey Risner, Jr.; daughter, Aimee Ridings (Joey); sons, David Renfro (Amy) and Tim Risner (Heather); grandchildren, Jacob Risner, Craig Renfro, Derrick Risner, Clara Renfro, Blakely Renfro, Alissa Risner, Shad Ridings and Silas Ridings; special aunt and caregiver, Carolyn “Pete” Fleenor; brother, Andrew Williams (Dee Dee); several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Orebank Central Baptist Church, 5776 Orebank Road, Kingsport, TN 37664, or anytime at the home.A Celebration of Gwen’s Life will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Tim Risner officiating. Music will be provided by Rejoicing Voices, Wayne and Janice McNutt.Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in the Garden of Resurrection at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet graveside at 10:45am. Pallbearers will include David Renfro, Andrew Williams, Jacob Risner, Joey Ridings, Conard Clipse, Ivan Clipse, Steve Vermillion and Roger Poore.
