Harold Hammonds, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 26, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 4, 1925, in Scott County, VA to the late Walker and Anna Lee Carter Hammonds.Harold was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed trading knives, guns and watches.He delivered wholesale goods and supplies for Salyers Wholesale Candy Company for over twenty years and following retirement, he drove a school bus for the Sullivan County school system for thirty-four years.Mr. Hammonds was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and member of State Line Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Winona Hammonds; brother, Virgil Hammonds and sister, Lillian Wooten.Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sherry Stallard (Joe); son, Gary Hammonds (Patty); sister, Carolyn Wagner; brothers, Gene Hammonds and Bobby Hammonds (Linda); grandchildren, Lyndall Clifford, Jimmy Hammonds, Sabrina Martin (David), Anissa Barrett and Ryan Baker (Heather); great-grandchildren, Montana Kincer, Hanna Kincer, Ryan Barrett, Dakota Hammonds, Robbie Hammonds, Sierra Clifford, Morgan Baker, Kaylynn Baker and Avery Baker; great-great grandchildren, Jadon Kincer, Jenson Kincer and Jaxtyn Kincer.The family will receive friends 5:00-6:45 pm Monday, April 29, 2019, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor David Salley officiating.Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers, Ronnie Phillips and Bob Roark.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gravely Baptist Church, 647 Gravely Road, Kingsport, TN 37660 or Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37665.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and a special thank you to Kelley Elliott for their compassionate care of Harold.
