Harold “Sam” Jones, 88, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord, Monday July 29, 2019, at his residence after a period of declining health.He was born in Scott County, VA and had lived in Kingsport most of his life.Mr. Jones served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Tennessee Eastman in 1986 as a Crane Operator.Mr. Jones attended Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church for several years.He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Horne Jones; parents, Robert S. and Lovely M. Templeton Jones; brothers, Charles Edward Jones and Bobby Ivan Jones; brothers in law, Billy Joe Wilson, Claude Horne, Clarence Horne and J.L. Horne and sister in law, Ruth Hillman.Surviving are his sisters, Nancy Jones Wilson and Shirley Jones Carter; brother, Elmer L. “Doc” Jones and wife, Wanda Davis Jones; sisters in law, Nora Jones and Wilma Jones; special cousin; Ronald Vaughn; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm Friday, August 2, 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, C/O Billy Jack Johnson, 116 Independence Dr., Kingsport, TN 37660.Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.oakhillfh.comThe care of Harold “Sam” Jones has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services. .
