Howard Dorton

Howard Dorton, 83, of Limestone, TN passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at his residence. He was born April 22, 1935, in Wakenvie, VA to the late Robert and Mace Dorton.Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed playing golf, bird watching and was an avid NASCAR and UT football fan. His faith in God and his family brought him the greatest joy in life.Mr. Dorton was the owner of King Electric Company in Johnson City, TN for forty-three years retiring in 1995.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-four years, Shirley Wooten Dorton; daughters, Denise Phipps, Alyssa Humphreys (Jarrett Cwick) and Valerie Dorton; son, John Dorton (Lynn); grandchildren, Sean Phipps (Monica), Grant Phipps, Haley Munson (Brett), Hunter Dorton (Rachael), Carter Dorton (Kenoa), Stuart Humphreys (Kim), Spencer Humphreys and Maddie Lee; great-grandchildren, Drew, Kelsey and Grayson Dorton; sister, Martha Ann Dorton; brother Charlie Dorton; numerous nieces and nephews and his special “fur babies.”The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, 2018, from 1:00-2:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with his grandson, Sean Phipps delivering the eulogy.The Entombment & Committal Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Mausoleum I.The family extends their sincere gratitude to Shawn and Melissa Morelock and family for their help on the farm and to the Washington County EMS especially, Captain Nate for their compassionate care of our husband and father.The care of Howard Dorton and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.Read Obituary
