Howard L. Smith, 80, of Kingsport, passed away October 31, 2019, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1938, in Kingsport, to the late Guy and Audrey Spears Smith.Howard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport most of his life.Howard retired from the Kingsport Press as an electrician following over thirty years of service.He enjoyed metal detecting and driving around the Kingsport area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Debbie Farmer; brothers, Richard Smith and Bill Smith.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-seven years, Wanda Smith; children, Rachel Miller, Courtney Wade and Gage Smith; five children from previous marriages; sisters, Juanita Starnes and Linda Godsey; brothers, Bob Smith and Steve Smith; several nieces and nephews.A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.The care of Howard L. My brother was kind hearted and was loved by everyone who knew him. I looked up to him as a big brother and took his advice to go Airforce instead of Army. He was a great brother and I will miss him dearly. See you later brother!
