Jackie E. Wood, 71, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Holston Valley Hospital after a long illness.She was born in Kingsport and had lived in the Mount Carmel and Church Hill area for the past 45 years.Jackie was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she played piano, sang, taught Sunday School and was a member of Faith Trio.She enjoyed life, was full of Joy and loved spending time with her family. Jackie was a Beacon of Light and a Pillar of Faith.She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Savannah Lynn Wood; parents, Creed and Dorothy Sands Shortt; sister, Melissa Harr; brother, Ricky Shortt and brother in law, Joe Wood.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, David E. Wood; sons, Jason Wood and Aaron Wood and wife, Leslie; grandson, Brent Stewart; brothers, Paul Shortt and wife, Barbara and Roy Shortt and wife, Paula; sisters in law, Carolyn Troxell and fiancé Jim Langrel and Geneva Wood; several nieces and nephews and special friends.The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Oak Hill Funeral Home in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ralph Owens officiating.Mrs. Wood will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting Life.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online to www.stjude.org The care of Jackie E.
