James Harold Fitch

James Harold Fitch, 89, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born August 29, 1928, in Buchanan County, VA to the late James Lorn Fitch and Ocie Bell Crum Fitch.James was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1946-1948 with the 98th Quartermaster Service Battalion, a unit of the 24th Infantry Division in Japan. He was a recipient of the WW II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.Mr. Fitch was an active member of the North Kingsport Church of God where he was a Sunday School teacher and was active in the Visitation Ministry for over twenty years. He personally assisted in building the new church.James was an insurance agent for Southwestern Life Insurance Company and had worked several other jobs over the years. He retired from Prime Sirloin as a butcher.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Lynn Philip and his sister, Nina Phillips.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-seven years, Barbara Fitch; children, Victoria, Tammy, Michael, Angela and David; grandchildren, P.J., Chandra, Eric, Alexa, Charmagne, Benjamin and Lindsay; several great-grandchildren; nephew, Tim Phillips; brother-in-law, Michael Ross; special friends, Glenn and Loretta Hurt, Jon Rembert and Herbert Lewis.A Graveside and Committal Service will be conducted at 2:30 pm on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Pastor Timothy Owen will be the officiant and military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Hammond Post #3 and the Gate City Post #265.The family extends their sincere gratitude to all their special friends who have supported them during this difficult time.The care of James Harold Fitch and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.Read Obituary
