Janice Griffin Gibson

Janice Griffin Gibson, 80, of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Cornerstone Village, Johnson City, TN. She was born July 25, 1937, in Scott County, VA to the late, Clyde and Elsie Flanary Griffin.Janice was a loving and compassionate Christian lady who enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, taking care of others and spending time with her family. She was a talented seamstress and retired from Holston Valley Medical Center.Mrs. Gibson was a member of Barton’s Chapel Central Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Gibson; brothers, Elwood Griffin, Charles (Gabby) Griffin and Bobby Griffin; sister-in-law, Peggy Griffin; brother-in-law, James Burke; sons-in-law, Benjamin Duncan and Phil Kincer.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Duncan Kincer, Elizabeth “Beth” Griffin Larshus (Jay); grandchildren, Benjamin “Ben” Duncan and Nathan Duncan; great-grandsons, Isaac Duncan and Cody Duncan; siblings, Elmer Dee Griffin, Gene Griffin (Sally), Marie Griffin Burke, Carlos Griffin (Jane), Dewey Griffin (Inece) and Kenny Griffin (Causby Marie); sister-in-law, Doris Griffin; several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
