Janice Penley Jones

Janice Penley Jones, 74, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 27, 2019, at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1945, in Kingsport, to the late Carl and Freddie Phillips Penley.Janice was a loving and caring Christian lady who never met a stranger. She was baptized at the age of thirteen at Fort Robinson Baptist Church and lived for the Lord her entire life. Janice attended Wolfe’s Chapel Church in Scott County, VA.Janice enjoyed cooking, watching Hallmark movies and studying her Bible. She had a great respect for the military and attended numerous Tan Son Nhut Association reunions with her brother, Charles. Janice was in charge of the “Silent Auctions” at those gatherings.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Allen Penley and wife, Carrie; sister, Clara Imogene Penley.Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Jones; son, Scott Jones; brother, Charles Eugene Penley; granddaughter, Alana Rose Jones; niece, Carrie Anette Fortney (Wayne); nephew, Jerry Allen Penley (Nichole).A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2019, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Pastor Joe Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Tan Son Nhut Association, P.O.
