Jessie Rhoten Cornett, of Church Hill, TN died peacefully Saturday morning December 14, 2019, at Holston Valley Hospital, in the arms of her loving family.She arrived the day after Christmas in 1934, to the late Grace T. Necessary and M. Kenneth Rhoten of Clinchport, VA. They named her Jessie Kate.As an early teen she was crowned Miss Scott County, VA. She graduated from Rye Cove High School and attended Whitney Business School. Jessie worked several years in the insurance business for Mr. Sam Bray and Mr. J.T. Parker.She was a beautiful, sweet and selfless lady who always put church and family first. Her greatest joy was children. Jessie was a long time member of Northeast Church of Christ.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Grace Christian; granddaughter, Emily Grace Johnson; great-granddaughter, Quinn Ellis Cornett; daughter-in-law, Caroline Nash Coleman Cornett; brothers, Jack F. Rhoten and James K. Rhoten.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of sixty-four years, Carl; sons, Marc, Mike and wife, Laura; daughter, Julie and husband, Jerome Gouge and son, Sam; grandsons, Jessie and Joseph Cornett and Dylan Christian; great-grandsons, Elijah, Lucas, Henry and Nash Cornett; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Grace Johnson; sisters, Patsy Chapman, Spruce Pine, NC, Frances Norton, Jefferson City, TN and Judy Holmes, Nokesville, VA; many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Tom Seals and Tim Hall, Minister officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.orgThe family is very grateful for the compassionate and attentive care given by the nurses and staff of 5th Floor MICU of Holston Valley Hospital.The care of Jessie Cornett and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
