Jo Ann Dye Dingus, 79, of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning September 1, 2020, after a three week battle with Coronavirus. Her passing came sixteen days after her husband.Jo Ann was born in Lee County, VA and was raised in Pennington Gap, VA.She worked at Holston Valley Medical Center for a number of years and retired from Indian Path Community Hospital. Jo Ann spent her later years caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others.She was a long time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.Jo Ann loved her family, friends and her Lord fiercely. Her smile was infectious and her laugh heart-warming. She felt surrounded and protected by prayer and wished nothing more than to see her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and those around her saved.Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Chapman Dingus; parents, William Boyd Dye and Sarah “Christine” Ramey Dye; brothers, D.F. Carroll, Ray Morgan and Ronnie Dye; sisters, Irene Redwine, Marie Denison and Wilma McCracken.Those left to cherish Jo Ann’s memory are her step-daughters, Gail Dingus and Patti Vanzant (Sam); granddaughters, Dawneen Willis and Charli France (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Easton France, Sawyer France and Bellarose Willis; brother, Bill “Curly” Dye; sisters, Idas Denison and Judy Gibson (Ronnie); special niece, Kathie Kegley (Lee); special friend, Peggy Allen and numerous others.“Mamaw, it broke our hearts to lose you, but know, you did not go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home. Just know, if our tears could build a stairway and our heartaches make a lane, we’d walk our way to heaven and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly and in death we love you still.
