Joan Valentine, affectionately known as “Misha,” 80, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 11, 2019.She was born July 22, 1938 in Surgoinsville, to the union of the late Sidney and Fannie Ewing Watterson. Mrs. Valentine lived most of her life in Kingsport.She graduated from Swift High School, Rogersville and graduated from Knoxville College. Mrs. Valentine retired from Holston Valley Medical Center after 30 years of service and from Holston Medical Group after 10 years of service as a Medical Technologist.She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess. Mrs. Valentine was an avid bowler, enjoyed various arts, gardening, reading, crafts and loved spending time with her family.She was preceded in death and reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Charles S. Valentine, Sr.; sister, Wanda Marie Watterson and brother, Adrian Watterson.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly Valentine; sons, Charles Valentine, Jr. (Eeva) and John Valentine, Sr. (Velma); sisters, Barbara Bell and Betty Fugate; special niece, Donna Morrisette (James); “adopted” children, Kenneth Carothers and Lori Stockley; grandchildren, Arron, Gabrielle, Charles III, Robert, John Jr., Brianna, Shalamar, Marcus, Shantell, Cydnee, Sasha, Tre, Clint, Ellie and John; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Central Baptist Church, 301 Carver St., Kingsport, TN.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Billy Pearson and Rev. Perry Stuckey officiating. Music will be provided by the Central Baptist Church Choir and Mary Welsh.The Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden to Meditation. I have so many fond memories of Joan. I am a very close Friend with her sister Barbara Lynn, we spent a lot of time with her when we were young. My.Prayers are sent to her family with loving memories of Joan.

Kim, Charles, & John: so sorry to hear about the passing of your beautiful mom. She was among one of the first persons I met when I moved to Kingsport, and she made this big city lady feel right at home. Her warmth, smiles, and laughter just drew people to her.
