Joseph “Randy” Collier, 72, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his residence. He was born September 20, 1948, in Big Stone Gap, VA to the late James E. and Lois Collier. Randy was a loving father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He loved animals, especially his cats, Slinky and Queenie. He retired as Manager of Kay’s Uniform following thirty-five years of service. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam conflict. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Bell; brothers, Jimmy Collier and Donald R. Collier. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James “Jamie” Collier and wife, Alisha; grandchildren, Blake Collier and Jackson Collier; sister, June Sybert and husband, Burnice; brother, Star Collier and wife, Cindy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Friday, August 27, 2021, from 12:30-2:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Elder Burnice Sybert officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a local animal shelter.
