Rest in peace Ms. Barrett. You will always be missed.
I found out about Kat's passing not long ago and I am truly heartbroken. She was my 7th-grade drama teacher at DESA and I can wholeheartedly say being in her class absolutely changed my life. She pushed me to be the best I could be and was unapologetically herself every day, which is a true inspiration because not everyone can do that. She was quirky, funny, lively, kind and compassionate. She introduced me to a performing arts program called 7stages which I attended, and I can say my time during the program was one of the most significant milestones in my life and I would not have experienced it if Kat did not push me to go. Thank you, Kat, you changed my life. May you rest in peace. I miss you, you were an angel on this earth.
I am heartbroken at the passing of Kathryn. Please know just how loved and appreciated she was.
Carrot, as I affectionately called her, was one of the most genuine and caring people I know. She was a trusted colleague, a great motivator, and an encouragement to me. She was not only my co-worker, but a true friend. My son Matthew was her special little buddy; he adored her and she treated him as her own.
Carrot's smile was like sunshine. She had a witty and quirky sense of humor and her laughter was infectious. Each day was an adventure with her and I will greatly miss our talks and lively lunchtime hijinks.
Carrot was a beloved drama teacher who loved her "babies" (as she called her students). She was passionate about her craft, and made drama fun and engaging. She found a way to make every child shine whether in the classroom, on stage, or at awards day (calling each child's name in record time).
She was a creative, patient, loving, kind, immensely smart, highly energetic, hilarious, sweet, and sassy soul (boots for every occasion, endless lip gloss, and hot sauce connoisseur).
I will forever cherish my memories of Kathryn and am thankful and blessed to have known her. May God's peace and comfort be with you during this difficult time time and in the years to come.
Sharon & Dennis, So very sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. Obviously a smart and beautiful young lady. You are in our prayers.
