Kenneth Earl "Ken" Burchfield, Jr., 45, of Mt. Carmel, TN. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 19, 2019 at Ballad Health Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, after a period of declining health.Born in Prince Georges, Maryland, Ken had resided in Laurel, MD, Callahan, FL and grew up in Surgoinsville, TN.He was a 1993 Graduate of Volunteer Comprehensive High School in Church Hill, TN with honors & was a former employee of BAE Systems & U.S. Fence Company. Ken formerly attended Freedom Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel, TN.He was very talented vocally & musically, playing several instruments and was a Handyman doing building, remodeling and mechanic work. Ken was proud to be an Organ Donor.He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Burchfield, September 2, 2017; maternal grandparents, Oscar O'Dell and Myrtle Rhodes Watson; paternal grandparents, Sam "S.J." and Gladys McLain Burchfield; paternal great grandparents, Thomas P. & Maggie Leah McLain; uncles, Lynn Burchfield, Randall Burchfield, Harley Mauk and Bill Paulk; aunts, Rosemarie Furlow and Effie Burchfield; grandmother in law, Pauline Price Horton; great aunts, Ethel Lee Cradic, Verna Gilbert, Ada Smith, Opal McLain, Blanche McLain and Margorie McLain; great uncles, Ed, Elmer, and John McLain and Thurman Gilbert, Herman Cradic and Allie Smith; cousins, Barbara Burchfield Vanover and Nancy Jo Krajewski; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.Ken is survived by his wife, Amy Baker Burchfield; son, Lucas Burchfield; father, Kenneth Burchfield; mother in law, Kathy Baker; grandfather in law, John Horton; sister in law, Kelly Seymour & husband, Mike Seymour; brothers, Brian Burchfield and his mother, Pauline Burchfield, O'Dell Burchfield & wife Bridget Burchfield, Jay Burchfield; nieces, Cheyenne, Haleigh, Willow Grace and Jasmine; nephews, Austin, Brock, Bradley and Elijah; aunts, Vivian Oyola & husband, Lou Oyloa, Bonnie Paulk, Naomi Mauk and Lisa Lane Burchfield; uncles, Wayne Burchfield & wife Donna, Ronald, Terry, & Timmy Burchfield and Dale Furlow; great aunts, Lola Henry and husband, Freddie Wayne Henry, Vesta Dobbs and Naomi Blevins.The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2019, at Freedom Baptist Church, 1536 Independence Ave, Mount Carmel, TN 37645.A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm with his brother, Rev. Brian Burchfield and his best friend, Rev. Chris Holder officiating. Music will be provided by Brian and Chris.The family would like to say thank you for all your prayers, thoughts, concerns, calls, messages, food, flowers, visits and acts of kindness during this time. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Holston Valley Hospital 5th floor ICU, Pastor Andy Sensabaugh and James Sensabaugh for the use of the church for the Visitation and Memorial Service.The care of Ken Burchfield, Jr. and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.

Just learned of Ken's passing.I remember our times in Tennessee after Ken and Amy were married. They were so sweet together. Ken was a sweet guy with a warm smile. And loved hearing him play music and sing along with the rest of the family . Rest in peace young man until we meet again with all the family.

Amy and Lucas..I have just learned of ken's passing..I am so sorry.This breaks my heart..I cant stop thinking of you all..my thoughts and prayers are with you.I remember meeting you all at the park that time when Lucas and Alexis played together on the playground in gradeschool..He was so nice..and I remember all the field trips we took together when alexis and lucas was little..Alexis and I will continue to pray for you..We love you..
